I have a brain coral that really loves his spot on the back wall of my tank but he was really over growing the frag shelf he was on. I searched and search for a solution and finally got it all set for my buddy Brain.

I found a shower shelf 3D print file and enlarged it a bit, then I glued 2 frag mounts to the bottom. It took 2 hours to print and it’s printed in PETG on my Elegoo Centauri Carbon.

At first I glued just one mount at the back center and that was no good. Tipped my coral right off. I removed that mount with bone cutters and re-glued it plus added one and now it’s sturdy.

I wish there were more frag mounts for mounting corals on the back wall of your tank. Especially corals that like to spread out.

That does the job!

I personally would prefer, if you could find one, a ROCK like structure that way it blends in better.

Right!! I agree. I have been searching the 3D file sites like MakerWorld and Printables for months for the perfect thing but there wasn't anything for something to mount on the glass/wall that was big enough for this guy. Or, the things that I might could use didn't have a good system for me to mount it to my glass.

I kept looking at him each morning when he was all puffed up and spread out - spilling off the frag rack he was on and finally I just did the best thing I could. I may have overdone it a little ;-)

I kinda threw this up there in the hopes that other folks on here with 3D printing design experience might chime in or offer to create something. I know other people must have this issue.

Tunze magnetic frag rocks work well.
I prefer to keep mine on rocks, I have 7 in my 150.
They do this if left on the bottom or back wall.

Gluing it to the back wall works also.
I have a acan e glued to the back of my 15.

Great idea to DIY. I ran across this awhile back when I was pondering doing the same thing Amazon. If you ever want a more looking natural approach. If you search the net enough, words like Magnetic Rock seem to bring up more
