Hey everyone at a loss, think i am going to loose all of my fish.

So far lost my Hippo tang, Wrasse, 2 anthias , Gold mindas blenny and now my foxface looks like hes getting it.

If you missed my previouse post here it is.

I think its some kind of bacterial infection i am not sure how it is spreading or what i can do to stop it.

Foxface has a bacterial issue and need to see pics of any other fish
Is fish breathing normal or heavy?
Any warning signs such as skin imperfections, loss of appetite, gasping at surface, scratching, etc?

The stripey and others look normal. Foxface has bacterial issue at upper dorsal and tail, and is likely bacterial. I needed pics under white lighting - no blue as the shimmer is throwing off the appearance of other fish.
The events are often associated with velvet but not seeing anything leading to water quality such as ph-ammonia-temperature-salinity as examples.

It’s a good mature tank . Have you changed anything and have you introduced any new fish . Vetteguy will put you in the right direction. Good luck

sorry didnt tag you when i uploaded the photos @vetteguy53081

I went back and looked at the previous thread. This may be the same as with the tang, but different that the wrasse issue.

It is rare, but not unheard of, to have a primary bacterial infection in an aquarium. Most bacterial infections begin with some injury to the fish's skin, the bacteria invades at that point. With primary infections, the bacteria start attacking the fish with no apparent injury preceding it. Does the tank have a UV sterilizer on it? That won't help the fish like the foxface that already have a lesion on it, but it may help spread from fish to fish.

Hey Jay thanks heaps, yes I have a evolution Aqua EVo UVC 55w running in the system. It draws from the sump and returns to the sump, however the flow was set pretty fast I have since slowed it down.

I have noticed I have an outbreak of vermid snails, could it be possible the fish are cutting themselves and getting a bacterial infection?

I don’t suppose you could rig the UV to draw from the sump and return to the tank? Drawing and returning to the sump is the least effective way to run a UV.

I don’t think the vermatid snails are the root cause. at least I’ve never seen that be an issue.

How long have you had the foxface? Has he been eating okay? He seems quite skinny.

Yeah definitely can do that, would you have a fast or slow flow through it ?

He eats like a pig, I have had him about 2 years.

To control bacteria, a faster flow rate is better. Just be careful - changing up the plumbing on a system can leave open the chance of some plumbing failure....for example, returning more water to the tank can over run the overflow's ability to take in water.

Hey Guys so i wanted to provide an update.
I believe this was bacterial, i had noticed for the past few months i would occasionally hear air bubbles coming out of my chiller which sits in the same loop as my UV.

When i turned up the speed of my UV i noticed the UV was leaking, so i turned it off and checked, my UV has been running dry this whole time i fixed the issue and UV has been running full steam for 10 days.

The foxface recovered fine which is the first fish to get over this sickness.

Fingers crossed the UV is working. will update if it happens again.

Thanks everyone for your assistance.
