I got a 4" klir fleece roller with a recent tank purchase. So Coralvue warranty is a no go. Wondering if its worth trying and purchasing a new motor.

The issue is that the roll will not advance when triggered by the sensor.

The motor will turn on and try to roll but the roll does not spin on its own but will with a little help. It's like it doesn't have enough torque to turn the roll when the fleece is installed. If I manually press the button and give the used roll a little help by pushing it just a little, it will turn. It just wont start on its own while installed.

Has anyone else had an issue with the motor not turning the roll?

I'm pretty confident I have the fleece installed correctly. I have watch several videos.

Just a thought owning a 7" version. Your sure the motor is not turning and not advancing the roll? The small hole on the white spool that the motor shaft goes into isn't rounded by chance is it? I've not used mine much but I thought that looked like a weak point when I was setting mine up. Also make sure the fleece pulls through with very little resistance. My reefmat is very hard to pull the fleece through and I suspect may contribute to the motor failures. My klir has little to no resistance when I pull the fleece through by hand.

If the motor works when manually pressed, it may need little cleaning to get salt creep and stuff off the roller perhaps. I used klir4 on a 24Gal for about two years. I only used it as manual (by pressing button) because my return was too weak to cause the sensor to work. It did work with stronger return pump but I didn’t want that. So I used it manually for about a year. And used less than half the roll. So ya, it was as good as not being there. So I took it out. Worst comes worst, you can use it manually like I did.
