looking for a suggestion on a different halide bulb for this combo. Thinking of a Hamilton 14k or ushio 14k. I don’t want to simply turn the xho off during halide because par is just right with them both on.

FWIW I’m running the radium on superlumen setting (430 watts).

Switching to the Hamilton 14k should lesson the blue of the radium. It's a nice crisp white with a hint of blue. I only ran the 150 watt DE so I'm not to sure on how different it will look in your fixture.

Sorry, I only have it in the title. It’s a radium.
My bad, I mean are you running a 20K now? I agree with @DSC reef if thats the case, a 14K will help wash out some of that blue

20k is the only radium ;) plus most people say that when you overdrive it, it’s more of a 14k appearance.

My question is more specifically what bulb, driven at the superlumen 430 watts setting, will be whiter than a 400 watt radium. I’m thinking I should stick with a bulb that is designed to be driven with an HQI wattage. Starting to lean towards the geisseman line since these are designed for hqi ballasts.

@Velcro can you throw up a picture? I have the xho and was going to go with a 250w Hamilton 20k but don’t want it too blue either.

The 20k Radium will be whiter on super lumens or even on real m80, but it sill resembles the same bulb... still decently blue. I would classify it more of a "shift" than a "change" in color.

Ushio 14k are very popular - Copps uses these if you like his photos and colors. 14k Hamiton is a nice bulb too.

Any of these bulbs will likely raise your PAR.

That’s definitely too blue for me. I could deal with that for a hour or so. Looks like when my t5’s turn off the 65000k bulbs and the xho is on with only blue+ bulbs

Why can’t this be easy lol
What I do not like is that it is an expensive experiment

57 dollars to see if u will like the color

Reefbrite bulbs look good as well I just haven’t had one that has lasted longer then a year

I've seen Phoenix 14k with the xho and it looks good. A little to white for my taste with out the xho on.
