40b stand design advice please

Looking at this on instructables. Pretty much what I want but I'll probably make it a little longer and wider for a nice shelf around it. Any thoughts on the design? Planned on using pocket holes but would they even be needed with this design?

Only thing I'd really do is open the back up for air flow.

Longer and wider is ok but the area under the tank frame itself should be supported from the tank down to the floor.

Remove the center brace. Its not needed for a 36'' tank especially on 16'' in height. Adding and removing a sump would be a lot of work if not. Also working around the brace is not fun either.
