I'm not even in to this sort of stuff and I want one, that thing is sick

Dang what does on of those things cost? Got to be at least 6 figures.

I don't know much about them just thought it was cool as hell. It seems like for a model like the one in the video it is in the 6 figure range. I found 5 axis also around $50k but I have no idea what I was looking at so it might have been a pasta maker....:snicker:

I have done a little tool path, it's really easy if your a wiz at geometry and math, but if you dont have a firm grasp on those principals it would seem alien and impossible. That wasn't programed though, they used a laser sensor to determine the dimentions from model made from a different material.

That machine costs well over 1.5 Million.

What do you mean not programmed? That was totally programmed.. how are you going to CNC without one? lol...

My dad uses these all day long, he builds bombs and subs for the goverment. He just bought a new one that cost over a tad of a million dollers. You think that it's coastly though, one broke and the guy who fixed it got 650 a hr to fix it..... with a paid lunch....

I'm sure the tooling kills the pockets also. Then again, in the this business everything costs an arm and a leg. Hell, I wasted a grand in aluminum yesterday.

But if ou get the right contract's with the right people it is VERY profitable i see it first hand =)

LYFAO??? Are you trying to be offensive?? I mean the individual tool paths were not programed, they used a model of the desired helmet and a laser sensor that measures all the dimensions and the machine is loaded with the info and of course there is a little programing involved just no G-code. Dont make fun man I am not a ******.:sure:

LYFAO is offensive to me for what it stands for and so is stirring trouble. Let's keep the thread on track and take any problems to PM's! Thanks.

Not worth it, 99% of what I say is always taken as offensive no matter what it has to do with. I don't want to get kicked for stating my personal opinion.

I have a very small 4 Axis CNC mill

it is pretty cool to watch it go

edit:

I can build a probe that will probe (scan) an object then turn it into
G-Code to have it replicated. I may have to build one for the fun of it.
