Hi, I recently joined R2R ( like this morning), but I have been a fan of this site for a while. I have been in this hobby for almost 1.5 years, but still have a lot to learn. In winter of 2012 I started a 20 gallon. The following summer I upgraded to a 55 gallon.
Tank
- T5x4 lighting with ATI combo
- 55 gallon display with 10 gallon sump
- approx. 1800 gph flow
- 50lbs of rock, moderate amount of sand ( max, 2 inches)
- protein skimmer ( not the best), filter socks in sump
Live stock
- 2 ocellaris clowns
- 1 watchman goby/tiger pistol shrimp
- 1 mandarin
- 3 monticap frags ( green, orange, purple)
- 1 Fiji leather
- numerous candy cane heads ( 3 pieces)
-pulsing xenia
- torch coral, 3 heads
- green apple zoos, and red palys ( guess on the last one as it was a hitch hiker)
- Toadstools ( mother was damaged, so I fragged it into 3,..still recovering)
Goal- This tank will primarily be a LPS and Soft coral tank. The Acroporas appear to be too demanding of care for me to keep up with ( I've lost afew). I also may add some different SPS from the Monitpora group as my 3 Caps are doing well.
I've attached 2 pics, 1 with only my blues on ( 2 blue plus specials,), and 1 with all 4 ( blues, 1 purple plus, and 1 aqua-blue special) I will be changing the blue special to a coral plus, although I have been seeing good growth.
