6 line Wrasse

Hello to everyone. So here is my dilemma:

I recently discovered flatworms in my tank and while they have not bred to epidemic proportions, I want to take care of this issue before that occurs. I have researched the Flatworm Exit and really do not like to add chemicals to my tank. I went to a LFS and asked this guy I know that works there and he recommended added a 6 line Wrasse, instead of adding chemicals.

My tank:

10 Gallon with:
A bonded pair of clownfish, a few hermits and snail, and mixed coral. The clownfish have been in the tank for at least a year now

I like to hear opinions...would you add the 6-Line or try the Flatworm Exit?

On a side note, I have a lot of Bristleworms that I would like to lessen the population and the Wrasse could help with that.

I have heard horror stories from 6 line. Some love them though. They recommend a 30 gallon or more tank for them too so I would say it would be a problem in a 10 gallon. I have used flatworm exit for red planaria and had no issues that I know of. They were gone first treatment but I followed up like they recommend. I have saw a few of the benign clear flatworms since but they come and go and as far as I could find out they aren't a problem. IMO bristle are good as long as they aren't really big.

In a tank that small, I would think you have problems with the sixline. they are bad enough in a large tank. you could try it for a while seeing that it shouldn't be too difficult to catch it. a pair of clowns alone is a large bioload on that tank.

On a tank that small, it's easy to do large water changes, so I'd use the chemical and then do a series of changes.

My six line wrasse does a awesome job on keeping flat worm population at bay. Yes six line wrasse need a large tank with lots of hiding places for other compatible fish.

Ok, thanks for all the quick replies! This is exactly why I was asking, I do not want to disturb the peaceful nature of my tank. Seems like these LFS's will tell you anything to make a buck...I'll go for the Flatworm Exit

Sixlines are hit or miss in terms of aggression. If you add them last and buy them as a juvenile they MAY be ok. But not in a 10 g there will definitely be some territory issues. Good luck with the treatment.

If six lines are added last they should be fine. I would be more worried about the clowns bullying him.

That was my plan as I also have a 10gal and just saw a flatworm on my glass yesterday. I plan to use Revive by Two Little Fishies and upgrade to a 20gal long. My question is should I dip the rock too? its base/dry rock but has algae on it. I also have a gorgonian, should I dip that?

my sixline clean out all pod in my DT...I use to have thousand of pod In my refugium. no more pod..:(

if your rocks has some algae,you should acid bath or dip in hot water or sun dry(dipping is not going to kill algae)

i had a six line. i actually liked watching him swim around in my Nuvo 24. i had 2 clowns in there and him. he didn't bully my clowns. actually one of the clowns bullied the other one a lot more. i noticed now w/o him, i have a lot more bristleworms and vermetid snails

I've seen Springer Damsels eat them. I think they are even smaller than a 6 line.. If that is an option
