Welcome to the build thread of my second reef tank
tank, sump, and stand
tank is 120cm x 60cm x 30cm or 48"x24"x12". custom made by me with 10mm low iron glass and clear silicone, with a red sea cover.
the sump is 109cm x 60cm x 50cm also custom-made by me and later on, I will be wrapping it in white acrylic.
it consists of a filter sock chamber, rollermat chamber, refugium, skimmer chamber, built-in ATO reservoir, and a compartment for frags.
the stand is a basic white aluminum stand.
I still have to make a controller board
lighting
I will be going with 2 radion g4 xr15 pros and 2 orphek or3 120 blue plus light bars on the display and another g4 xr15 for the frags in the sump.
the refugium will have 1 par38 refugium light and I will maybe add another one if 1 isn't doing the job.
Flow/return pump
jebao cp-40 gyre
jebao sow-8
jebao dcp-3000 return pump
controller/automation
apex classic
fmm with flow meters and solenoid valve
kamoer ATO one
3 Kamoer X1 Bluetooth dosing pumps
2 xp aqua flood guards one for the ato reservoir and the other for the saltwater mixing tank
Eheim everyday fish feeder
amazon wifi plugs
inkbird wifi ITC-308 temp controller
mechanical filtration
Theiling compact 1 rollermat(main)
sss 1000 int reef octopus skimmer that is mainly used to increase the ph with a co2 scrubber.
a pair of 4-inch filter socks that will only be used if the rollermat is doing too good of a job, I will split the water between them to increase my nutrients.
chemical filtration
rox 0.8 carbon in a reactor
and I have the option to run rowaphos if needed
biological media
2 kg of maxspect bio-balls
and all the rock in the display and the refugium
red sea Fiji pink sand
salt/additives
tropic Marin pro salt
tropic Marin balling A,B,C
Brightwell amino when the tank matures
foods
ocean nutrition formula one and two
Hikari marine s
selcon
reef roid
barrier reef lps formula
and a nice variety of frozen foods
I hope to fill the tank up by January I will do a long 4-month cycle without light and add all the fish I want in these 4 months so when I add corals after that my nutrients will be stable and the dry rock will start to mature. it will be a mixed reef with a good bioload to match my aggressive filtration.
also, I need a few suggestions:
1) what fish species would you like to see in a tank with these dimensions
2) I am thinking of a UV sterilizer to keep the water clear but I feel it would be quite useless because I already have carbon and the rollermat do you guys think I will benefit from one in addition to the existing filtration in terms of clarity, not parasites as I will quarantining all the fish.
3) Just share any thoughts or suggestions
