Awesome. Where do you grow the chaeto in your biocube? I have a IM25 that I always struggle to keep nutrients under control in, but right now no real place to grow chaeto or anything like it.
Have an InTank fuge in the back with an IM ChaetoMax light behind the tank. This is about 2 weeks of growth…

Tank hasn’t been able to keep up to temp. Going to need to replace the 150 watt Jagers with a couple BRS Titanium 300 watt heaters. Also got salinity up to 1.026, and added Caribsea Fiji Pjnk. Thought I would need 3 bags but 2 sufficed. Once the sand is fully settled I’m going to begin cycling with Red Sea Reef Mature kit. Very happy with how it’s coming along so far. I still need to build my control board, but I’m waiting on delivery for my Hydros XP8- I don’t really want to wire everything to the WiFi strips just to need to redo it. Here’s a random pic of a Reaper in my Biocube.

Let the cycling begin. Red Sea Reef Mature, Day 2. Alk reading 9.8dkh so no need for KH Coralline Gro. Need to get some readings tomorrow.

can you show more details about the 2 return pumps plumbing?
I don’t use 2 return pumps. Sicce 5.0 is the return that’s just split into a T and then out to 2 bulkheads. Sicce 3.0 is T’d (still under construction I ordered the wrong PVC fittings) to feed my carbon reactor and UV, both still need to be plumbed.

ok so your reactors pump Is the small sicce that you have in the return vane

the reactor output is in the skimmer chamber or in the return Chamber?

why not using the same return pump with a Tee?

Yea, reactors are on small Sicce.

Reactor output will land either in skimmer chamber or return chamber, won’t matter much just more where I decide to put it. Right now the carbon reactor is slated to output in the same chamber it’s in, the middle one, and the UV will dump into the return chamber next to the return pump intake.

Im doing full Triton Method that requires 10x tank turnover for flow. I went with a pump rated for 1300 gph, so after factoring in head pressue, elbows, T’s, I‘m pushing far less than 1300 gph, but with a full siphon 1” Herbie drain Im definitely moving some water. Didn’t want to use my return pump to feed my reactors for 2 reasons. 1) it would take away from the needed flow for fuge exposure with Triton Method, and 2) it’s an ongoing backup pump in case my return pump fails. It’s not as strong but will at least keep the heart beating til a replacement shows up.

Received my pump adapters today and got my WaveEngine hooked up finally… these OctoPulse 2’s definitely move some water. Have them set to a sine wave anti-sync from 15% to 100% and 6 hour ramp up/down total time. Probably going to add in a 10 min blast every couple hours to kick detritus and other settled junk off the rocks. I’m really enjoying the WaveEngine and can’t wait to hook up my Control 4 and XP8 (when it shows up).

I really like the information about the pumps on the app that is available. Pretty neat stuff.

I have a 300w and a 250w heaters for my 75. I had to set them both to the same temp to keep the temperature constant. It has been a cold winter here though.

How did you find programming the wave engine? I definitely had some issues getting things the way I wanted them.

Let me know how the hydros controller is. I've been thinking of trying it out for my 25g. What all do you plan to control with it?

Heaters should be here today so I’m hoping they do the trick-

Programming the WaveEngine was fairly easy once I knew what I was doing wrong. Recommend going online and looking at what all the functions do, for example I originally had both pumps set to “opposite” thinking they would automatically anti-sync, but one of the pumps needs to be “same” for that to happen. Could be lack of common sense on my end, but easy to correct and figure out. Now the center point of flow collision in the tank moves from one side of the tank to the other in 3 hours and comes back the other way for the next 3 hours, repeat.

With the Hydros I plan on running my ATO, monitoring temp and using it as a backup in case the InkBird fails me, also monitoring PH and may put a solenoid on my skimmer with a CO2 scrubber, and will measure ORP just because. I also have a skimmer cup sensor and leak detector for under my UV. Going to get a door switch to trip my cabinet lights as well, and may buy a button box to trigger feed mode, water change mode, etc. I’m guessing the programming may get a little tricky with “depends on” function and what actions I want to take and when, but excited to get her wired up for sure.

I have to read up on what all the functions do. I definitely have both pumps set to opposite!

That's cool. Mostly using it for monitoring then. Let me know how the programming is. I've seen some people automate most things with the hydros controllers so I know it can be done.

There is a ridiculous amount you can do. Pretty good FB group with folks showing their systems off, and asking lots of questions. Plus they have a forum online too if you wanted to poke around.

Use to take my 150w heaters 4-5 hrs just to get temp up to 77.0°. These new BRS Titanium 300w heaters just got it up to 80° in 45 mins. Wish I did my research beforehand… oh well!

Received my overflow box lid today from Melev’s Reef! Pretty excited about that, looks solid… heaters look cleaner as well :)

On day 6 of the Red Sea Reef Mature. Alk dropped to 9dkh and PH is strong at 8.2 at the moment. Pretty happy with the PH, and may need to start dosing the Coralline Gro if Alk drops below 8.3. Tested my water last night- ammonia is at 0.0, nitrite around 0.1 and nitrate around 32. Didn’t think my NO3 would be this high, will be interested to see how the rest of the cycling regimen pans out. Started piecing together my small manifold to feed my carbon reactor and UV sterilizer. Shaping up…

End of cycle is here, so added some chaeto. It tumbled way too much from the amount of turnover so I added a filter sock with the bottom cut off to help diffuse the flow. The Hydros control and monitoring is awesome, very happy with that purchase. CUC went in on Sunday and is active. Adding a Harptail Blenny tomorrow. Finally starting to come alive.

My Hydros XP8 power bar will be here by the weekend after a 2 month backorder. Will be able to button up my control board, finish the small manifold, and get ready to keep an eye on water quality as I add more livestock. Exciting stuff.

Added a Harptail Blenny on Wednesday night. Acclimated and dropped her in. Seemed like she settled in nicely. However she was tucked away in a corner vertically and looked stuck to the wall, and was also a bit discolored. Did a quick ammonia test confirming it’s at 0.00, and googled a bit. Turns out they can like to “sleep in”. Thought she was dead or on her way out. Left for work and checked on her and she was swimming around. Anyways, hoping it wasn’t anything detrimental.

Found some Red Graciliaria to add with the chaeto in the fuge, and also picked up a pair of PJ cardinals and YWG/pistol shrimp pair. Everyone is settled and eating. Glad I check the LFS salinity since it was 1.022 and took my time acclimating up to 1.025. Also got the rest of the UV plumbing done and dry fit. Need to glue it all together this week, and wrap up my control board.
