Hey all so about 2 months ago I tore down a marineland 60 gal due to a velvet outbreak. I sold the tank and threw all the sand away, bleached the rocks and start from new. So today I got my new tank and began the build. I'm using Hawaiian black sand and when there in stock a reefbreeder v2 stocking is yet to be determined. The only surviving fish are a pair of clowns ( tough little sh**s) anyway here's my pic of the tank before water

It's all set up and running! I added a bottle of bio spire over a couple of days waiting for the temp to warm up and then adding my poor inverts back I know it's not cycled but alk of my cuc and shrimp are in a little 5 gal and very over crowded and unhappy hope they like their new home

Okay so the lights are on the tank has been running for a little over a month and I'm already starting to see copepods and filter feeders on the glass. This weekend I'm going to pick up my coral from my lfs ( he was holding while I was waiting for my light) I'll post more pics this weekend.

So the tank has been running for a few months now the corals seem happy with the exception of the John deere lepto always seems ticked. But now I had a gha outbreak. Luckily the tomini and one spot have just finished a 1 month qt so in they go.... I think they're gonna get nice and fat

So the other day my unknown soft coral decided to up and melt. I checked all parameters and they were good, nothing else was effected. So I need something soft as I want this to be a nice grown out mixed so I replaced it with this little zoa. I forgot the name of it but next time I go to my lfs where I got it I'll ask

How did the blackout work for you? Looks like you are having some of those typical first year reef issues. They will pass. Looking forward to an update.

The black out worked well. It really gave the dino a kick in the butt. I've continued to dose 9ml peroxide after disturbing the dino and running a uv. A few coral don't look to happy..... bleaching a little so I just put a hole lot of carbon to help. I also picked up the Dr tim dino treatment and will be doing another blackout with the Dr tim. That should be the end of the dino......... fingers crossed
