Hi all!

Long time reefer here..

I began keeping SW fish in 2008. This is the first time I begin a custom build. My fiancé and I purchased our house March of 2019 and her only concern was that she wanted the system to blend into the finishes of the house and not just some crazy bulk of things in the middle of the house.

So the mission began:

The tank is an 8 ft x 24 in. x 22 in. from Planet Aquarium. It's replacing a Waterbox 5526.

Equipment list:

4 Ecotech XR30 GR Radions
3 Kessil A160we
Supplemental T5s on an Aquatic Life T5 Hybrid Fixture
Royal Exclusiv Mini Bubble King 200
Royal Exclusiv Media Reactor
Ecotech Vectra L2
Neptune Systems Apex / Trident / DOS
Custom Synergy Reef Sump
Custom Stand
Clearview Lid (in progress)

So I made the stand match the kitchen to keep it cohesive.

It is a work in progress. Im taking my time with it. Next up is a leak test this week, I have 200 lb of aragonite coming. I have lots of live rock already so it should be an easy transition.

Really excited to share this build with the R2R community!

Following.

I'm about to buy their 310. 8ft x 30" wide x 25" deep

Is your front glass low-iron or the standard?

.
The front and side panels are low iron glass. The back panel is regular. I had them skip the vinyl on the back. Honestly you cant tell its not low iron.

A couple more pictures.

its getting there! im leak testing it tomorrow (if work allows) and working on the fish list :)

Im connecting all the lines to the dosing and ATO this weekend as well. I picked up a cheap tablet im going to connect to my apex to have direct control on the stand of everything.

Speaking of fish... does anybody have any experiences with Achilles tangs?

Update 7/17

Did a plumbing leak test this morning, passed with flying colors! That means sand and rock goes in next week.

Any advice on the following? I currently have a 6 inch regal tang ive had for about six years and a 4 inch purple tang ive had for a little over one year. They're the only tangs in the tank and they get along perfectly. Im thinking about adding 3 more smaller purple tangs, a powder brown, and a sohal..

Any advice on that? Too many tangs for an 8 ft tank?

Number of tangs seems fine. I personally would not like to take chances with Sohal and second purple tang.

Sure! Added a pair of watanabei angels from Reef Pro and a Gem tang. Im staying away from SPS at the moment since I want the tank to mature a bit longer. Ill dive into SPS again in the winter.

Did you build that stand yourself from scratch? It's awesome.

I had our carpenter build it to my specs. It was a must that it matched the kitchen cabinetry since we have a super open floor plan. I wanted clear doors to showcase the plumbing and royal exclusiv equipment.
