9 month no water changes

I’m no water change also but my tank consumes alk daily. If your not consuming alk and calcium then coral growth is stunted or non existent. Your tank looks good but whose to say it can’t look better

No water change is absolutely possible but you need to replenish and replace what’s consumed, and handle things like nitrates and phosphate.

There’s a learning curve to no water change, it’s not something you just stop doing and everything thrives. You have to compensate in other ways or you might end up in a gradual state of decline as trace run out one by one

6-9 months isn’t a long enough time to see negative effects of no dosing no water changes for the corals you have.

I don’t know when each coral was added but some of those are capable of explosive growth under optimal conditions.


This is one of those “don’t count your chickens before they hatch” situations.

If your alkalinity is nearly 11dkh, and it’s always around 11dkh (195 ppm) and you aren’t adding alkalinity supplement or replenishing alk in any way, then it tells me your corals aren’t growing properly.

Same for calcium.

If you aren’t needing to replace alk and ca, then the skeletons aren’t growing. It is possible you already depleted some trace elements

I would reccomend something like all for reef, but if you have no consumption, then you wouldn’t be able to figure out a dosing amount

My answer would be to do a water change, maybe a series of them.. weekly.. to reset the tank ;)
