Alright guys, I was hoping yo have sand and rock in my tank by tonight but I've hit a road block. I have a 90 gallon 48x18. I went to my lfs to purchase a new stand today, the stand is the correct dimensions for the tank but I did not account for the black plastic trim going around the bottom of the tank. This is causing the tank to sit on top of the stand and not down in the stand like its supposed to... What are my options here? It would fit if I could take the plastic trim off. But I'm not sure if that's for cosmetics or actual extra support for the tank.

That's an Aqueon stand and tank correct? That's how it is supposed to sit. On top of the stand, not in it.

I'm not sure the manufactures name. But yes it looks and seta exactly like that. Did you add in extra support? I feel like that trim will not hold that weight.

Nope, It is a matched set. Aqueon gives you a lifetime warranty as long as you use their stand so it must be good enough. That's solid pine sitting on 3/4" sides with multiple vertical supports.

The center braces are just there to prevent the long spans from bowing out. There isn't a whole lot of force on them. After it is filled up the weight of the tank makes enough friction to prevent anything from moving.

But that's exactly how mine looks inside also. With the water and tank my setup is over 2000 pounds and it is holding up.

Why not sure? What do you think is better? The weight evenly distributed around the entire perimeter of the tank or sitting in the stand on those 4 tiny corners?

Also, to answer your previous question, DO NOT remove the trim. It does perform a function.

How is the tank doing now? I just purchased this black pine stand from a local shop and I'm worried about how its going to hold up with my 90gal set up. It just seems very light and wobbly. 90gal has been set up over 5yrs, the stand its on has seen better days so we decided to get a new one.
