Since I am going to be out a bit decided to limit loss of water. Would hate to have the ATO run out of water.
Actually ends up a tricky tradeoff. Too little airflow and oxygen levels get low temperature gets high and everything dies. Too much airflow and the tank loses water and everything dies.
I cut out an acrylic sheet to act as a cover on it and taped up the other holes on the aquarium. The sump is still uncovered but doesn't get great airflow. Is that enough for my five gallons to last a few weeks? Maybe. Will watch it a bit.
Definitely will force air conditioning to be on even when no one is home.
