i went that big because of the hardware for mounting the railings and gate. I’m going to get those railing kits that mount on top of the deck. I measured my existing deck and the steps are 3ft wide so once the railings are on I should have 3ft left.

For the steps instead of deck boards I went with 2x12s.

I'm using a 30 year old Magdrive 1800 to pump water up for the slide. At least, when I'm expecting guests... it's a setup that I have to put up and take down, running on an extension cord. If my grand kids just stop by and want to swim, I throw the hose up there, and they get cold well water on the slide

Before I bought the house, someone installed a hose valve in the plumbing in the pool shed, with the intent of running a hose to the slide, I suppose. Problem is, whoever did it, they put the hose on the inlet side of the main pump . No presure. I've thought several times that I'd cut into the pressure side, between the pump and the filter, and install a threaded outlet for a hose. Haven't ever gotten around to it, though.

I found mine at the hardware store for under a $100. They call it a utility pump. It’s rated for a good amount of head pressure.

Started putting a walk way on the side of the garage to get to the back of the house.

That is a cool idea but there really isn’t much space in between the two decks. That walk way is barely off the ground. It’s just 4x4’s and deck boards. I wanted to put the steps going onto the other deck and do more of a multi height deck but the wife didn’t want me to rip apart part of the deck that’s attached to the house.
