Brilliant! I'll set up a water change schedule where I swap a couple of gallons from each back and forth. The clean one will clean up the dirty water and the dirty one mess up the clean water, then swap again!
There's an idea... I imagine you would have a single sump with two different pumps in the return chamber, a smaller pump for the nano and the large one for the 80g... hrmm... The nano (zero nitrates) would almost act like a refugium!

I don't remember when my last water change was. Seems like a good idea to do one, though. Wish I knew what I am doing differently that's causing the high nitrates in my 40. It was struggling to stay above 0ppm for the longest time. I've had two fish deaths and a whole bunch of macro death, so maybe that's dumping a bunch of nitrates/phosphates. I've also been feeding a bit more liberally trying to get the pencil wrasse to eat. Plus the Plank Reef Jerky might just be adding up over time. Oh, and my DI/Carbon/Sediment filters were way expired and I just changed them, so maybe that is a factor.
