Acans have been doing fine for months. The blueish ones on the front polyp there’s a little recession for unknown reasons. The rear polyp there seems to be something growing/poking out from the middle-ish area. The reddish ones haven’t been puffing up but other than that appear fine. The blue ones also haven’t been puffing up like usual either but are a little more puffy than the red ones. Nitrates are around 20 (possibly a little higher than I would like). Phosphates around .2. Salinity 1.026. Temp 79.2. Calcium 420. Mag 1400
Alkalinity is between 8-9 (this was a little low around 6-7 two weeks ago but a series of water changes course corrected)

Tried to get a pic or the rear polyp but it’s tough to tell

TBO it looks like everything is in order and you are doing great job from what I can see.

Just to clarify… phosphate at .2 or .02?
.2 or less. I’m gauging the color on the api test. I went ahead and moved them to my other tank which has been set up for years and they went back to puffing up. The tank they were in has only been set up for about 2 months so I’m guessing they weren’t liking something in it

For phosphate, I reccomend investing in a Hanna checker for accuracy. I believe salifert is real good too

Agreed. That’s what I’m looking into purchasing in the next month or two. I recently got a copper one for my qt tank. Game changer

I have my acans on the sand as well. In my experience they are very picky about flow. Try moving them around a bit. I have some empty spots in my acan garden where none are happy, but 1 inch to either side there is a happy acan.

So update. I moved them back over to my other tank which has been set up for over a decade and instantly they started puffing back up. My only guess is maybe the new tank wasn’t quit ready for them
