Acan tenticles always out

I have 3 different colonies of acans. One is a blue and red acan that I got from a group buy from Aqua SD years ago. I purchased the other 2 from a store called Epic Aquaria in Shreveport, LA: a kaleidoscope acan and a Mardi Gras acan. I love their colors yet all 3 seem to always have tenticles extended even when the lights are on in the tank. All 3 colonies continue to grow well. This does not happen with the wide variety of other LPS corals I keep. I like looking at the colorful flesh of the corals and not a mass of tenticles.

My guess is that I should feed at night more. I heard that feeding them during daylight hours can promote this "behavior." What are some other strategies that I can use to help with this situation?

Looks like a normal feeding response. I’m not sure how much you can control that, but if you do figure it out, please let me know!

My acans almost always have their tentacles out, and they are growing like weeds, so I assume it's nothing to worry about.

Hey those are beautiful acans. Don’t get caught up on “ I see tentacles therefore I must feed”. Corals are hunters, they are hunting it’s what they do. As long as your tests show nutrient in the water they are fine.

A friend from our Louisiana forum (LA Reef Club) recommended that I put the acans under brighter, more natural light. This advice has helped a good bit! I put the acans under an older, 3rd gen Radion with lots of white spectrum. The fixture's circuits must be fried. I can no longer hook it up to the computer to set the fixture's spectrum. Over about a month, I used the buttons on the Radion to ramp up the light's brightness almost as high as it will go. Here is the result at the middle of the day:
