Acans - can a single dead head impact the colony?

One of my small acan colonies is approaching another coral and curious how this might play out (a torch in this case but I'm not asking the question in terms of this one scenario only). If one or a few heads of the acan colony are stung or killed by another coral will the entire colony be impacted / die or just the heads that were stung? Thanks

It should be only one that dies from stinging. The part I'd be worried about with lps is if one gets stung it will be weak and it's easy for them to contract something like brown jelly that will definitely spread easily to others.

Lost the large central polyp of an acan frag that was starting to grow babies. Unknown reason, just bailed out one day. I suspect too much flow. The babies all survived and are now full sized polyps that are now growing over the spot where the first polyp was. I'm not 100% positive in your case because it is coral on coral warfare and not flow on coral, but more like 90% that you will not have any issues except death only where the torch touches the acans.
