I love the look of Acans and would like to add them to my tank. Just wondering what kind of care they require? Are they difficult to keep or fairly easy?

I was just about to start a thread on acans when I saw this one. I just got a small rainbow acan frag and I was wondering if anyone had any tips on light level, flow level, and all that sort of thing.

I currently Keep all Rainbows I have under Very Dim LED but I ONLY use Blue Light.

And they all Keep their Color.

I use a Single 32 Watt Kessil A150 Deep Ocean Blue Actinic.

They are Kept on the Far Side of the Tank Away from the Light.

Blue Light is the Best Spectrum for Acans to Keep their Color But is the Most Important for Rainbows.

You do not want to Spend a Fortune on a Rainbow only to have it turn Solid Red Under White Light or too Much Light!

All Acans will Look Better Under Solid Blue LED but they will Grow Much Much Faster under T5.

So I Keep Rainbows under LED and A and B Grade Under T5.

I always had my cheap China LEDs wash out my rainbow acans to orange or dull red. Always loved how acans just do their thang under t5s, but if you can get good color from LEDs, more power to ya!

I'm using radions and they're doing great. They always open up and eat a LOT, they multiply rather quickly

Next to super colorful zoas, acans are my favorite! They are so fun to feed too!
I have an AI prime and they are placed bottom/mid tank and they have flourished. 15+ heads on 1 and 4+ heads on another in about 2 months.

The Key is Keep the LED Low and Do all Blue.

Do NOT use White or any other Color.

Acans are found in Deeper Water that is Very Very Blue so this also Mimicks their Natural Habitat.

Not sure why but Acans and my tank don't mix. They shrivel and die.

Lords love me and I love them. Super easy. As everyone has said keep them under blue light. Feed them all the time. I try to feed DAILY.

With the rainbows, it is my understanding and experience that if given too much light, the will begin to shift to a total red coloration. Once I shaded mines bit i started to see more green, blue, and yellows pop out.
