Acceptable Entry Level Test Kits

I use salifert for nitrate and phosphates
Redsea for alk,cal, and mag
I also would recommend Hanna’s even though I personally don’t own one

Anyone used and can review the 2 test kits in the pictures attached? Are they any good?

Hanna checkers for sure. They are worth the investment. There is too much riding on results. Color interpretation and or titration methods seem far less accurate.

Colour scale interpretation sure, but how is titration less accurate? With salifert for example there is a very distinct blue, next drop purple, next drop pink. Or the other way around.

If you pick purple every time, or pick one drop past purple every time, there is no interpretation issue, unless you are colourblind

No I'm not color blind LOL. But there is interpretation involved. Did the color really form at drop number 11 or did it take drop number 12 to really make the color change. That's what I'm saying.

you mean you do the test so fast that you don't wait for the colour change to be finished with everything it is doing before doing the next drop?

The only bit of " interpretation" is whether you choose to stop at purple or choose to go one drop further where it's no longer purple. As long as you always make the same choice, it doesn't matter which one you do.

One drop here or there makes no difference to any coral I've ever had.

Having said that, the most common mistake folks untrained in titrations make is to not let the reaction complete before adding the next drop.

You should be swirling for at least two seconds between each drop.
