I ordered a 1/2 cup of real live sand from ARK and it came today. I’m needing some biodiversity in my cube, it just feels too sterile. I also added a few ml of DIY coral snow trying to help it clear. My filter roller is working overtime today! I’m afraid to test nutrients today. It smelled like the beach and it was a small amount, so we’ll see tomorrow.

Personally I would never add “live” sand to my tanks. Especially one that is already running.

If I wanted some biodiversity, I would get a chunk of good live rock or rubble.

There’s so little in the actual sand that wouldn’t be in rocks.

Live sand just clouds the water and can sometimes crash tanks if they are from bad sources. That’s why I always rinse live sand.
