Added too much muriatic acid to new salt water

If I added too much muriatic acid to new salt water (prior to a water change, no living creatures involved); can I add alk in the form of 2 part to bring it back to where I want it? I don't want to end up with a precipitous mess.

Depends on how far you took it down, and you would only need to dose the sodium carbonate to bring it back up.

I should add that if you took it way low that when you add the sodium carbonate the salinity will increase too much
