I’d like to add some blue light to my tank without removing or cutting the top (not an option, way too many cats in this house!). I may upgrade to Steve’s LEDs someday, but not today. I don’t need a lot more power now, it’s simply for aesthetics. I ordered a submersible blue led tube that someone else used successfully but it was too tall for my setup as it went under the waterline (my water level is high due to other equipment I’m running). Any ideas? I saw an idea to use true lumen strips, but it didn’t have info on how to attach.

I have a bunch of the tetra 6” blue led strips that I have used on everything everything from a Picos to accent lighting on my 40 Breeder..

How do they install in the hood? I assume just manual control?

I used 3M double sided tape @nd stuck them to the plastic cover for the stock lighting, they are really small, light & waterproof. manual on/off switch, I typically just use a mechanical timer to control them.

Here’s a picture of them on my t5 hybrid, first on in the morning and last off at night..

That seems like it’s worth trying. How thick are the lights?

12" reefbrite or Lumens strip will fit and accomplish what you want

How would these be installed? The included legs wouldn’t work as the light would be in the water. Velcro?
unscrew plastic shield and place underhood and put shield back on OR you can get plastic shield for fluorescent tubes and slide fixture in there for protection from splash

Oh, I’d have to remove the stock lights. There isn’t room under there without removing them.

When I had biocube, I was able to have both. the lumens strip is 11"L X 3/4" W . Very small and thin, yet Very bright

Hmmm interesting. It doesn’t look like there’s be room, but maybe I’ll do some mock pieces to spec and see.
