I want some input on how many fish I can put in my 180 reef. Tank dimensions are 6 X 2 X 2. Currently I have a very small blue hippo, very small flame angel, 3" Chevron Tang, 3" Regal Angel, 4" Magnificent Foxface, and a 4" Moorish Idol in QT. I was wondering how many more tangs could I add along with the Moorish Idol? I considering a Naso Tang and a Sailing Tang. The angels are kinda butt heads and need something to keep the regal in check.

I would personally say you are fully stocked on the larger fish. I have a Powder Brown, Kole Tang, & Magnificent Foxface in my 125 and feel I am maxed out on larger fish. Either way, Naso Tangs need 8'-10' tanks minimum (IMO), so I would cross that one off either way. I think Sailfin's are basically in the same boat given how large they can get.

I am very confused... A 1.5 " blue hippo tang, 3" Chevron Tang, 3" Regal Angel and 4" Magnificent Foxface and I am maxed out in a 180? I also don't understand the minimum tank sizes for fish. I need a 8 foot minimum tank for a naso? Yeah if he is 18 inches long. I really disagree with the statement above. I'm sure people have more than 3 medium size fish in a 180.

Well it has been a week since I added a 5 inch long naso. I also added my moorish idol with him. This move has really paid off. The tank is finally happy and the fighting is minimal compared to before. I believe that since I had so few large fish that the fighting was worst. The fish was trying to whip the other 2 and dominate the entire tank. Now that I have 5 large fish, it is overwhelming for one fish to try to whip 4. The see no real aggression anymore. The tanks community seems balanced. Something to consider if u have fighting fish. I believe the less fish the more likely they will fight.

My tank was setup June 4th

Week 1: added 1.5" blue hippo and 1.5 flame angel, and they fought in a 180 like crazy.
Week 2: Added 3" Chevron Tang and 3" Regal Angel. Immediately they fight over the same spot in the rocks. They do this for 36 hours.
Week 4: Added moorish idol and Magnificent Foxface. Shortly after the regal turns it aggression towards the Moorish Idol which leads me to removing the Moorish Idol into separate tank. I let him recover and then add him back to tank with large naso tang.
Now the tank is finally settled.
