Adding height to my system

Adding more rock is the best option, I would think, but if you don't want to or can't do that for a while for whatever reason, you could always look into some acrylic risers. Set them down in the back of your rockwork, build your rocks on top of them, and use your other rockwork to conceal them. You can find them in a variety of heights, at least up to 12".
What is this dark magic you so speak of. That’s a killer idea. Where do you get them and long term are they reef safe I’m assuming?

You can find tons of different risers on Amazon, and you can usually find them at any plastics shop, like TAP plastics or... basically anywhere.

You can also make them yourself with acrylic panels and acrylic cement. And yes, definitely reef safe, since people build tanks out of the same materials. 😀 Just make sure that you use thick enough acrylic to cover the weight of the rocks.

That is such a cool idea thank you for sharing! I’ll look into them more. I’ve been wanting to raise the back portion of my rock scape near the overflow without just piling a bunch of rocks creating a detritus trap. I’ve been in this hobby since 2003 and I swear you never stop learning new things.

And here we go!! Added a lot today.

Just curious, how many lbs did you end up getting?
