I've got 2 2x4 frag tanks that I'm setting up next to each other and I plan to go with a t5/led combo.

Currently the idea is to got with 2x Kessil 360's and 4-6 retrofit t5 bulbs over each tank. Originally I was planning on doing 4 bulbs - 2x blue+, coral+ and purple+, but lately I've been thinking about adding 2 actinic bulbs in.

I can possibly get a couple 48" 8 bulb sunpower fixtures at a good price, could I just remove the 2 middle bulbs and hang the kessils from there? I'm not too concerned about the aesthetics of the fixture, just worried about the kessil overheating. I also thought about just cutting a hole through the top of the fixture and mounting the kessil through it so that the fans are above the ati fixture to pull in cooler air.

Would I be better off just going with the retro t5 route with the kessils? Also, is adding in the 2 actinic bulbs overkill for a mostly softy and LPS tank?

Yea. Look for a less expansive fixture and pull the center tubes. Drill a hole and put the leds in.
