Hi--I am converting to MH for my 75g tank, and the existing matching wood canopy to the tank stand isnt tall enough for the proper height (only 5-6 in.) Since I am not one for woodwork, I thought I had seen photos of hanging wood canopies, and I like the look. And seems like it would be nice for easy feeding and maintenance to have that thing up. I dont want to ditch the finished look of the wood topper either. The thing isnt that heavy, but does anyone know what I should buy and or ask the Home Depot guys for? They sold me some silver things to put thru the drywall, but when I looked at the package, it says not for hanging overhead.:squigglemouth: Yes I told them what I needed it for. Poor guys, they were eager to help a girl, but I could have done that well on my own...

what lighting are you upgrading too? pendents/fixture? many way to go about what you are doing. you might need to find someone who knows a bit about construction for help.

2 250MHs and 2 T5s for the blue...I already mounted the retros in the canopy and screwed the lid down, so all I need is a way to elevate it.

they sell steel cables/wire ropes, lockdowns and hook at lowes and homedepot.. dont buy picture frame hanging kits.

if you can post a picture we might be able to help you out more.

ihave used these items more then a couple times to hand lights. cheap, work well and i trusted them
they do sell by the foot.
