Advice: TDS in fresh saltwater batch.

Hey all,

Thanks for looking or maybe responding. My situation/question: I mixed 30 gallons fresh saltwater (Tropic Marine Pro)15 cups of salt. Of course, right after filling the container, adding salt , and adjusting alkalinity. I move to filling my top off storage and just happen to check the tds meter. Dang if it isn’t showing 3 tds output 17 tds input. My di filter only lasted 4 months - I was expecting a bit more life.

Do I toss the batch. I replaced the filters (4 stage BRS) now showing 0 tds. I worry the 17/2 ratio means a lot of stuff passing through. This is Peoria, Az so we have notoriously hard water, but no chloramines.

Thoughts, strong opinions?!?! Thx!

30 gallons at 3 tds in a 500 gallon system is a drop in the bucket.

I should add my tank is 60 gallons and I do 5 gallon changes weekly.

I'd just replace the DI for future batches and move on. Might be a bit more silicate and/or ammonia than usual in the batch, but that's no concern. I doubt much copper was released since the more readily displaced ions (silicate/phosphate/ammonia) will be the first to come off.
