What are people’s thoughts on AF Life Source? I did my first dose last night. The polyp extension on my SPS all day today has been crazy. Could just be the current status of my nutrients (higher than they’ve been… fighting dinos lol) or could it actually be this mud?

Curious to hear others thoughts and successes with this product!

I use it for a *potential* biodiversity spike. And I also understand it has minerals like a typical refugium substrate, so not bad either.

It's worth noting that Life Source allegedly has magnetic basalt particles in it, which you probably don't want sticking to your pumps and whatnot. I mix my Life Source in a container holding a very strong magnet on the bottom to collect all the magnetic particles and then pour it into the tank while holding the magnet in place.

I read that as well in some reviews on BRS. Have you notice your magnet is pulling particulates out?

I use Life Source to seed dry rock during cycling. Worked well with my first tank, trying it again on my next one.

This is from about a quarter of a small container I used for seeding rock and sand. The magnet below it is a rectangular magnet from OctoAquatics acclimation box.

I have been using a mixture of AF mud, fauna rebiotic, fauna coral balance and dosing every now and then. No negative results, but nothing super positive occurring to the eye.

PSA: just got word that FloridaPets.com Keys/Gulf mud is back in stock. That's an alternative worth exploring!
Gosh I was waiting for awhile for that! Ended up ordering ark. Might get some from them as well

when I first setup my tank , I introduced it 6mth in , all my corals lit up, they had been dull and struggling. Went to bright and growing . I now dose it every few months probably a teaspoon at a time. I didn't know about the magnetic particles , I will make a point of removing them from now on.
