afboundguy's 35 cube/display fuge/mangrove build thread!!!

Used extra 3/4" PVC to create a small stand for the roller mat.

This is how the two lines are plumbed in currently that I need to change to quiet it down...

Put a single bracket on the old carbon/GFO reactor and made it into the GFO reactor and installed the new BRS mini reactor with carbon. Took the bio-spheres out of the larger reactor and put them in the sump. I plan to 3D print a bracket to hold them better

Picked up 4 Pederson Cleaner Shrimp today from NEMO and some blue legged hermits. I wanted to get just one of the shrimp but the wife said I should get all 4 so they wouldn't be lonely so I couldn't say no!!! First life (besides macro algae) in the display fuge!!!

Went to FFM in CT and picked up some great items! Biggest score was 6-7 new macro algaes for the remote display refugium! Also got a feather duster and moved a lot of the pom pom and the unknown black macro to the sump to make room!

Sorry about the grainy pictures I had just put in a ton of BBS!

Wild caught female mandarin ate TDO pellets even faster today! And of course the pesky blue leg hermit rearranged the new macro algae!

I picked up a captive caught female mandarin and put her in the remote fuge for several weeks and finally put her in the DT today. Also saw that I lost my orchid dottyback over the past few weeks . I've been too busy to realize she went missing and have just been dropping a frozen cube in the dethawer.

She has been eating frozen and TDO since day 2 in the remote fuge and ate TDO an hour after I put her in the DT!

Main reason I moved her is because I picked up a female ruby dragonette who is now in the display fuge! She's already eating TDO and white worms!

Picked up this large colony of red and yellow Sun corals at FFM and they're finally starting to open up when lights are on!

The shrimp quartet in the display fuge is still going strong and love the new macro I added from FFM!

Instead of clean up the basement and do other more important tasks I shockingly got side tracked and did a DIY light mounting project.

I used 2020 secured to the 3030 stand. I first cut the 2020 to size and checked the fit on the front of the stand

The bolts in the Reefbreeder were M6 which worked out as all my extrusion bills are M6! I added the extrusion nuts to the bolts on the light and it got very tight and it's not going anywhere!

"Final" product. I used left over 3030 angle brackets and they didn't work very well so I ordered some 2020 angle brackets that should clean up the look and make it even more secure.

I also zip ties the cord for a nice clean look!

In the remote display fuge there were slats and a hole below the water level and I tried gluing GSP frags so water would go through the top slats to keep the top of the water clean. Well that didn't work as there was a film on the top of the water.

I cut a few small pieces of spare acrylic I had laying around and super glued pieces over the lower slats and the hole in the middle and then reglued the GSP pieces to the acrylic pieces. My goal is to have the whole back "AIO" section be covered with GSP!

It's been a minute since I've had time to work on tank. I lost the rubby dragonette as she jumped out of the tank so I'm in the process of putting screens on top of the tanks. I started with the DT and I'm not sold as I feel like it ruins the look of rimless tanks but we'll see...

Also set up my first ever QT tank. Only been 25+ years without one! I was always super picky about where I got my fish so I think that helped me stay lucky but I purchased another Orchid Dottyback and figured a QT tank would be better than the acclimation box in the tank! I added a screen to the top as well.

I also set up an apothecary tank after I saw The Macro Lady at FFM. Bought the jar for $5 off FB marketplace and threw in some macro algae, snails, hermit, live sand, rubble and an arrow crab and used a sponge filter (for now), small heater and spare light I had kicking around! It's a cool set up and the arrow crab walks right over every time he sees me as he thinks he's getting fed!

Also had a small orgy earlier tonight! I saw a bunch of dwarf cerith snails crammed in the upper front corner of the tank when I fed tank after work. I almost took a photo as I thought it was weird. Went back about an hour later to start a tank 3D print and saw they dispersed and saw a bunch of snail egg swirls!

Finally got around to starting on a project I have been putting off for quite some time! DIY automated ATO setup with dual float switches!

I have a XH-M203 automatic water level controller hooked up the dual float switches so that the RODI isn't constantly kicking on and getting the worst quality water right after it kicks on. It is wired to a brass 3/4" Ball valve that closed if I would loose power.

Started off enlarging the two holes in the sapphire 5 gallon ATO container for the dual float switch and the backup float valve.

Ran the wire and the RO line and secured it to the basement ceiling.
