So this is a weekly thing and the techinques change as well. We used to tell them that we rent, now they show up and ask if Mr and Mrs Smith actually they know our name is here. Or they say hey my name is Mr Smith that's funny so is mine. Today they said that they helped my neighbor and they, I start to slam the door, and he says but can I at least get your signature, so why would they want my signature? Also in the past they want permission to see my electric meter, it is on the street side of the fence, like all of them our in my neighborhood.

Anybody know what this new game is with them?

Why dont you just tell them that you arent interested, and ask them to never return.

I understand that you were trying to be kind and didnt want to outright reject them, with a subtle rejection hint... but it just allows them to come back. If you straight up tell them, no thank you, good bye. Theres no guessing. Tell them to reschedule you for 5 years. lol

So my take is that they are attaching a lean to your house and they will get your house If you cannot pay them back or lose the house.

Yes its NOT free, and its absolutely putting a lien on your house. BUT if you were to sell your house it would come out of the sale proceeds. We have that here in FL I had a few sales people come, thankfully not many.

I just tell them no thanks. Another option you have is a sign that says "NO SOLICITING"

while looking for a house down here for my sister in law we came across one with a brand new solar system....on a completely shot and leaking roof...of course it would all have to come off to fix the roof...cant believe they talked this old woman into it...probably told her it would make it easier to sell the place...they're the aluminum siding salesmen of the present day

I do not think that a door to door salesman can either read or comprehend what No Solicting sign means,

snorkel My neighbor(single mom) across the street got a large system, the biggest part is on the wrong side of the house, faces north, the other side is much smaller and the other neighbor tree shades it most of the day. That was a big company around here. So they got the bill of goods deal of a lifetime.

Dani35. In LA these same type, are giving people in the distress areas of Los Angles loans to minorities 30% down but when you sale your house you have to pay it back. Or if not, and you lose your home, they will repo due to the lien. Same animal different stripes.

It all depends on state laws from what I understand. I've read that in only a few states can they put a lien on the house, most can only put a lien on the solar system. Just what I've read so may all be false. I'm lucky and never get those kind of salesmen. We had a bad hail storm back in February and for 2 months straight I was getting 3 or 4 salesmen a day wanting to do my roof. They actually increased once I had a roofer and they put a sign in the yard. Then all of them kept telling me they could beat the roofer I was using and actually do it for a lot less than the insurance was paying so I would stand to make 1000s.

I'm really thinking solar may be in my future if natural gas prices stay so high. I'm probably going to get a $600 electric bill for this month.
