AI Hydra 26 HD in the hood of a Biocube 32

I thought I’d share this. I’ve seen others do this (I copied them!) but hadn’t seen par numbers. I did this back in July and it’s been working pretty well except for a slightly pale green slimer (my first acro so wasn’t sure what the issue was...I’m sure now!) The light is mounted in the hood with a hole cut for the fan and the lenses removed (to get better spread). The stock splash shield is in place. I used a Seneye for the PAR numbers and didn’t have a mount created so used my hand to hold it. This means that my arm was in the tank so the lid wasn’t shut completely. Real numbers are likely higher (I’ll make a mount eventually but that’s a project for another day).

The spread is good. You have to remove the lenses from the lights to get good spread but the PAR numbers show it worked very well.

I actually just took it down last week to upgrade to a bigger tank. It worked very well - good growth, no issues.

Thanks for your response i have the Steve’s kit on my 32 and have a replacement hood in mail and the 32hd also be here next week for another 32 anxious to try this I had a kessil 360on it and had better grow with it than Steve’s but I like having a hood again thanks and best of luck with your new adventure of bigger tank
