Hello,

I am planning to use an AI Prime 16HD light on my aquarium with the Silver Mount.

My aquarium has relatively thin 6 mm glass. Would it be safe to use the Silver Mount with this thickness of glass, or would I need to take any additional precautions or use a different mounting method?

1.2 to 1.25" max glass thickness for the mount foot.
6mm = .23"

No human will or should actually tell you what to do. There could be a minor glass flaws that end up cracking when people say it shouldn't.
I think you get my drift.
AI Prime csr's may help though.

For some reason AI prefers the flex mount. Does look to have a bit wider footprint.
Anyway, and I posted the dimensions in order to give you an idea of room available for weight spreading shims.

For a 6mm glass tank, the AI Prime Mount will fit perfectly, but you need to take a few installation precautions. Since 6mm is relatively thin, a direct plastic screw clamp can apply uneven, concentrated pressure and stress the glass.

Recommended 6mm Installation Steps

• Do not overtighten: Turn the plastic clamping screw until it is snugly flush, then add just a quarter-turn more.
• Use a spacer pad: Place a small piece of rubber, a silicone furniture pad, or thin cardboard between the clamping screw and the glass.
• Distribute the weight: The spacer pad spreads the clamping force across a larger surface area to prevent pressure cracks.
• Keep it vertical: Ensure the weight of the light isn't causing the mount to leverage or twist against the rim.

If you are using a rimless tank, would you like me to find a specialty rimless-safe mount alternative, or are you planning to use the Flex Arm or the Rigid Tank Mount?

AI is garbage ( artificial intelligence , an oxymoron

maybe caution and positive results may be better. I did not make tis bracket because of any fears of disaster , but in your case I would have . I made mine because the bracket would not open wide enough to fit over my rim. I would have thought that the rim would take the brunt of the force of the weight , but now not so sure , after hitting the light continuously while cleaning my glass ect. So I am glad I made this totally external support
