Aiptasia eaters

Hi

I have a cleaner shrimp and a fire red shrimp.. Will they eat and destroy Aiptasia? I read online that peppermint shrimp love Aiptasia :p not sure about the other 2.

a peppermint shrimp is a 50/50 with aptasia . The fire shrimp won’t eat Aptasia .

Well I had a peppermint and it removed every single trace of aiptasia within a couple of days. My understanding though is that some will do what mine did and others won't even give it a second glance. As for your shrimp, got no idea but my guess is even if they known for doing it we still at 50/50...

i see, thanks for the explanation. i dont think its a good idea to add a 3rd shrimp because mine is a 15G nano tank.

Nope those two shrimp are scavengers and will eat uneaten food and what not but not Aptasia. Peppermint shrimp will eat the Aptasia if it's the correct type, there are Peppermints that look alike but only one type eats Aptasia. Since I have a Wrasse in my tank I can't use Peppermint for the Aptasia so I used 16 Berghia Nudibranch in April and by July my tank was free of Aptasia.
