Alexa and AI Hydras

Hello.
I recently took advantage of Amazon's Prime Day and picked up an Echo and Phillips Hue Lights. This combo kit had me thinking...can the echo connect to the AI hydras?

I just googled around a bit and did not see anyone using Alexa to control it. It also seems like it might be too much trouble.

Given the difficulty that we had just getting our Hydra lights to connect reliably to wifi I'm doubting this would work all that well. Unless the goal is to spend several hours growing more and more frustrated until you throw the echo at the lights in a last ditch attempt to get it to work.

Alexa Skills typically communicate with outside services via web API calls. I don't currently have any AI products, so I'm not sure if they have a public API or anything that would be generally accessible. I assume AI would have to build an Alexa integration into their controllers that would allow incoming voice commands to change your light.

I looked at aqua illuminations site. I could not find an SDK or API. I did look at network requests on my.aquaillumination.com and it is pretty obvious what calls need to be made. I think this could be doable.

Yep, that's one way to do it. You might just need to figure out the authentication scheme. I imagine you'll need a session cookie or token before making any of those network requests that you're seeing.

Alexa Skills can easily run some code (Node would probably be quickest/easiest) to mimic those same network requests to change the lights however you'd want to.
