I’ve got this stuff growing on my glass ..
Upon close inspection, it has both brown and green varieties (mostly brown though). Are these diatoms? Coralline? They seem to be calcified as they are difficult to get off my glass - I have to gently use a metal scraper. My tank is about 8 months old now. I do also have some green hair algae growing on my glass but it comes off easily with a soft sponge. This stuff doesn’t.

Its film algae which is easily wiped away with sponge or magnetic cleaner. To slow its process, you can reduce white light intensity and/or number of hours of white lighting and add a few snails such as : astrea, cerith, turbo grazer, nassarius and nerite
