Lastly @taricha you’ve helped me many times on here. You have saved my pocketbook and the speed in which I age prematurely.

A big Thank you!!

New clean up crew.. 35% h2o2 (caution required) making a dent.

Goni damaged, hoping for a miracle. Very frustrating to say the least.

35% h2o2. Nuked it and probably a lot of other things too.

Still fighting this… but making some good progress. Reminder to my future self:

lowered temp to 76
Increased alk- trying to get ph up currently 8.15
Dosing 35% h2o2 (also using it to spot treat)
Replenishing bacteria (using waste away)
Doubled my CUC - snails and emeralds
Have more pumps coming to increase flow. In the meantime I’m manually cleaning the rocks with a low flow pump.
going to reinstall my algae scrubber to see if that starts doing anything.
increased feedings - only frozen do not feed flakes or pellets.
Don’t buy more coral! (J/k)

I want to add this has destroyed my gonis, torches, hammers, open brains, and scolis. I probably have over 3k in losses from this mess. I don’t think this can be seen as something that will take it’s natural course. I would encourage everyone to go after this “golden algae” aggressively.

To add insult to injury, maintenace on the tank also caused both my apex Wav to die yesterday (stuck in Stall) so…

I love this hobby. Deep breath.
How old is your tank again?

Well that's substantial. What ate your complete water parameters now?

I see where you are making some progress with a cleaner crew but you have to identify the source of your problem first.
I wish I could say it was just a single variable. If I’m honest with myself, I’d say it’s was mostly husbandry. Not changing the RO resin when I thought it needed it, not being more aggressive with my maintenance schedules (uv light, algae scrubber turned off, roller mat intervals, water changes), and allowing a “professional” to maintain the tank ‘cause I didn’t want to deal with it.

It was definitely a wake up call. If I want it perfect, there’s likely no amount of money that I can pay someone that will meet my standards - sadly.

I will post an update in a moment. It’s getting there - 3-4 weeks of daily battles with this thing.

@abeelias Any new updates on your progress. I believe that I am battling the same thing and I want to try the things that made you successful.
