I first saw the Algae Free Easy Blade a few months ago at a LFS and figured it was a gimmick. Another 3reef user then posted a thread about if anyone had used it before and I found a clip of it in use. I thought it did a great job and would make it so I don't have to reach in to my tank ever again to clean algae.

I had my LFS order me one and it arrived today. It comes with one blade, but replacements are cheap and easy to come by. When I got home from work I super glued it to my mag float and let the glue dry. I then used the magfloat as you would normally.

Holy crap, this thing cleaned ALL of the algae on my glass off. From the green film to encrusting algaes. One slide across the tank in each spot cleaned the glass perfectly.

The only downfalls I see to this product is that since the blade is metal you need to rinse and dry the blade after each use. Not exactly a hard thing to do and if you already use razor blades to clean your glass you do this anyway. Accrding to Limpit's Reef video of this unit in work, it will only work properly on the largest mag float. I do think it will work on the smaller ones as well.

I highly recommend this product to anyone who wishes that their magfloat worked better and that you didn't have to keep scrubbing the same spot multiple time to only see that is didn't clean the glass.

That sounds like a great product. Not for people who like to leave the magfloat in a dark corner of the tank between uses, however.
