Hello,

I recently treated my tank with Reef Flux to get rid of what I believe was Turf Algae. The good news is after a few weeks all the Turf Algae is gone. Base news is of course I created a new problem as expected. I am getting a brown/rust color algae on my sand and some of my rock work. Current Phosphate reading after all the Turf algae being gone is still testing at 0 using a Hanna Ultra Low Phosporous test kit.

I am wondering what kind of algae / diatom / etc this is? Also, I did recently add a qty of 120 CUC's to maintain algae outbreaks going forward.

I also just completed a 30% water change (tank is 100gl btw).

Any suggestions what I should do next?

Following, tomorrow is the last day of my two weeks after reef flux. Afraid of having same problem. With the other algae being gone , something is bound to show up for the excess nutrients.

Been researching a little. There will be a surplus of nutrients do to the algae die off so recommend adding bacteria’s to compensate or other algae’s will come back. Just ordered fritz for mine
