Hi everyone , I set up a coral qt , cycled it and have been keeping my first batch of corals in there for the past 4 months . They are ready to be added to my display FINALLY , but I’m afraid now if bringing in this nuisance algae that I don’t quite know what it is . Pics to follow . Also the bubbles are air bubbles not bubble algae as far as I can tell .
Do you have it in the display too?
It does work for green but if it isn’t bad I I would not sweat it for now. It will usually go away on its own unless your parameters are off and the flow is too low.
No , my display is algae/cyano free .
I did have a red cyano issue a few months ago in the DT, but it cleared up with a round of chemiclean. Interestingly ,
The red cyano I had , aside from obviously being red , had very different characteristics . I’m surprised to hear that this is green cyano honestly . I thought it was some form of dinoflagellates due to all the presence of air bubbles . But I’m new to all this and still learning .
Not Dino’s, they are usually browner in color. I would not dose the tank with it, if you are worried it might get into your display you can make a dip solution of it and dip the frags for 30 mins after manually removing it from them. H2O2 works wonders killing cyano as well.
