That’s actually a sponge, a simple animal with a silica-based skeleton (thus very few animals attempt to eat them). They are filter-feeders that usually starve in our systems unless they are well matured or dosed with filter-feeder foods with smaller particles. They may irritate corals as they grow, but are harmless in most cases. Personally, I would leave them be.
