Ive had the tank up and running with fish and softies since 2013....after some coral issues started up again with zoas and mushrooms,....same fish.
I know I don't have a great demand but are these numbers ok to work with?
Obviously don't have to dose
I bought 2 boxes of Instant Ocean Reef and my alk , calcium and mag are extremely high.
testing with salifert. Low res and High.
New water....salinity...1026
temp...78
ca...540
alk...12.8
mag...1350.
these are averages from different batches of water...same lot of salt..
Looking for advice...

Cal is higher than I would like to see.
Alk is also high but you can let the mixing pump run for a day or 2 and alk will drop. I bet in 2 days of running pump it would drop under 10 dkh.
Are you mixing/rolling your salt mix around before using? Sometimes different elements settle weirdly and may cause high and low numbers.

Has me stumped ...... there is a pump running always in the salt water reservoir..... I tested them when I made it and several days later...... still high

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
