Recently alk has started to drop
But I was to the understanding it should be fairly consistent . All tests were done exactly at 9:00 pm
So day 1 alk was 7.616 dkh
Day 2 alk is 7.336 dkh
That’s .28 difference
Out of curiosity I tested alk 1 hour early and it was 7.28 dkh

It’s only .056 difference from 23 hours ago .
Shouldn’t it be consistent ?

I don’t think I understand your question, but those smaller differences (like 0.056) aren’t really measurable with hobbyist equipment. At least none I have ever used. How are you testing that gives alkalinity measurements with precision to the 0.001 dKH?

The daily drop from 7.6xx to 7.3xx could be a really drop due to alkalinity usage. But even then, I would track it over at least a week to see the trend.

Corals or coraline consuming? I add about a tsp or more of baking soda to my top off water to deal with consumption

.056 difference between the day before and that day testing .

use Hanna , convert to dkh
The .056 was the difference from one day to the next .
after the difference of .28 the 2 days prior .
I did figure it out ...
the alk consumption for each day was 2ppm each But only tested 3 days .
I did a water change last night and recorded test results .
will test every night for 5 days and see what happens
