Hey Guys

What do you guys recommend if you keep your tank at around 12DKH (to accelerate coral growth) and corals in your LFS is around the 8DKH range...

i.e. How do you acclimate coral with such a difference in ALK? As do not want to shock corals?

Indecision may or may not be my problem.

l do a drip acclimation like you would for fish and inverts if the parameters are that different.

I have asked this question in a previous that I created but never got a good answer unfortunately. Doesn't make any sense to me that even small ALK swings can cause RTN but we can drip acclimate over an hour and reduce (or increase) ALK by large amounts without doing any damage.

Changes up seem to be far less of a problem than changes down. I bet you won't have to much of a problem if you just drop acclimate. Just watch your temp closely. Lots of people forget about that during animation.

has anyone done any experiments on acclimating corals to high and low dkh? It would be interesting to see some results for a simple temperature acclimation and release at varying dkh's for different corals
