Definitely no fluctuating PH reading since I hooked up my skimmer to a canister of Soda Lime. Finally it reads consistently between 8 and 8.2. Could be a contaminant of some sort though.....just gotta figure out what it might be.
Over weeks months not days correct?

Will you link your rtn thread. I'm curious.

I know people say dont chase numbers but I actually really enjoy it. Since hooking up my KH guardian I decided to run a test every hour for a week. Using that data my goal was to set up my dosing to maintain a stable dose of no more than + or - 5%.. This is actually way harder than I thought it would be.

Time and light affect consumption a lot. I have to dose more a couple hours before lights on to keep my dKH from fluctuating. a lot of people test once a day at the same time and by testing this you miss the whole picture. Your dKH can fluctuate by 10% or more during your photo period if you're keeping a steady dose over 24 hours.

I have my KHG test every three hours. When I setup my calcium reactor, it was testing every hour until the reactor was dialed in, which only took about two days. The only time I make adjustments now are to turn the alk dial up a bit when needed.
