Hey guys,

I acquired this gem about a week ago, couldn't let it slip through my hands! I noticed the fish in a bucket before it was even put into a tank at the LFS. I shined my phone light in the bucket and didn't mention anything of the color, just said I'll take it. Upon further investigation once I got her in the tank, she doesn't have a hint of purple on her entire body! Solid electric blue and orange, no purple. I know it's not juvenile traits as I've owned, and seen many coral beauties younger than this.

Anyone ever seen one like it? She's quite illusive when it's camera time so the pics aren't so great.

Wow, beautiful fish! Ive never seen one without the purple. Great score.
Also whats the other fish on the bottom in the last pic?

Thank you! I knew to go with my gut on that one. I was initially thinking it may have been a juvenile blue face and when he told me 30 bucks I about had a heart attack!

The other fish is a ruby mandarin, unfortunately the individual who I told to pick me out the healthiest one, gave me one that was almost dead. It passed that same night :( I'm going back tomorrow to pick up my replacement. Lesson learned, don't ever let an employee pick the specific fish!

Ive had my Coral Beauty going on 7 years now and he's nearly all purple now with just a bit of orange on his belly. I also notice he will change color during the year occasionally with more orange to almost all purple.
