Indeed lolIt is never fun to lose corals. I sincerely wish my tank inhabitants could communicate with me and tell me what they need!
No3 is at 10ppm and PO4 is at 0.06What are your current phosphate and nitrate levels (nutrients)? IME, SPS die more easily from starvation (PO4 and/or NO3 at zero) than from nutrients too high.
ICP results arrived today and the only things that where elevated was Lithium ans bromine, so no idea on what else is caousing an issue. My phosphate is also pretty high since on the ICP its showing .17 when my hanna 774 shows 0.06.
Yea thats what i was thinking which got me scratching my head, i dont know what else can be the cause but a bacterial infection maybe? My orange passion completely stn already, alk consumptiom remains at 0 but no other corals have died yet.I don't think the lithium or bromide are any concern. 0.17 ppm phosphate won't kill corals.
Now that i think about it i do remember starting to see problems when i stopped using activated carbon, could that be an issue? Maybe it was removing a certain toxin from the water? I do have a leather in my tank aswell as alot of zoas.I don't think the lithium or bromide are any concern. 0.17 ppm phosphate won't kill corals.

Yea its not that its probaboy the ph, its at 7.7 and not much i can do since the windows have to stay closed. It's possible, but not super likely IMO.
But it's easy enough to add carbon back.
I just cant wrap my head around it, its like alk would be stable for a couple of days and then it just spikes as if consumption randomly slows down. For the last 2 days alk consumption has stayed stable at 7.7 then it just spike to 8.7 for no reason.
I have checked the GHL doser weekly to make sure its calibrated properly and has been spot on. Ive had to open and close the window every day or so due to the heat, could that cause those crazy swings? You sure you amount actually dosed is not inconsistent, or the test is not inconsistent?

Yea like clockwork, the consumption ususally dramatically increases 24 hours after windows are open, i just didnt know ph could cause that much of a dramatic effect on alk stability since i was always told not to chase PH. I guess not lolYes, changes in pH caused by changes in CO2 can easily alter demand substantially.
Does higher demand (lower alk) correlate with days windows were open?
Ive been on vacation for the past week and have left my sister to take care of it, she tests for alk daily and to my surprise even with her increasing the alk dosage everyday the alk is getting consumed at a crazy level. My guess is that leaving the windows open everyday aswell as the refugium at night is helping since the PH is at 8.4 now. The consumption has gone from apmost no consumption of ESV B ionic 2 part to 49ml and counting a day. Btw the doser is a ghl 2.1 so i know its accurate. Btw this chart is basically her increasing the dosage of alk and calcium by 5ml a day which is crazy.Marc you need to lower your light intensity demonstrably and sustain that until the rtn subsides. basic sunburn factors in cases like this many times/as you search for causatives. less white intensity for sure, for a while, is ideal. blues levels don't matter much. running a lower intensity does not harm the other corals, reefs get cloud cover for 2 weeks at times and things adapt just fine. it helps reduce irritation and burning when ? stresses are present.
when I cooked my heater and didnt know it, and my corals started to mass bleach, only that habit of instantly lowering light intensity on my kessils in reaction to insults saved them from total loss in my opinion.
