I've been keeping a reef tank in some capacity since about 2002. Much to my wife's dismay, I became obsessed with SPS in about 2008. I lost all interest in "moving" corals... This tank will likely have 99.9% SPS corals (my kids may talk me into something else). Below, I've included some of my old tanks of which I still have pictures.
This was my first tank in 2002 right after I set it up in our dorm room. It was a standard 75g that was eventually dominated by an 18" leather coral in the center of the tank. The tank had a redsea classic berlin skimmer, wet dry filter, and eventually a powercompact fixture!
Here is my next tank from about 2007. It was a 135g tank from glass cages. If I recall, flow was accomplished by 2 original tunze turbelles. I had 2x250 SE metal halides for lighting and a recirculating RO skimmer. This was around the time I started transitioning to SPS.
I ended up taking a brief break from reefkeeping until we purchased our first house. The wife (mistakenly) agreed to a fishroom in the basement. It was a 40g breeder corner in-wall that I had from about 2011-2014. I had 2xMP10 and 1xMP40 for flow and 6x39w ati sunpower for lighting. This was definitely one of my better tanks!
We eventually moved and had to take the tank down. My wife was happy to be without tank, but eventually, I was able to talk her into greenlighting another one! It didn't hurt that I got the kids on my side... We got a versa42 and I reskinned the cabinet to match our upstairs TV room. Unfortunately, this tank never really took off. I had this from about 2015-2016
